This first course of The Yoga Lab provides students with a functional understanding of anatomy
and how movement of one part affects the whole. Designed to offer an experiential learning
environment, The Yoga Lab: Anatomy Refresher teaches basic structural anatomy, primary
functions and movements of muscles, common patterns of tension and weakness, and the
effects of poor movement patterns. The Anatomy Refresher course will provide a broad
overview of how to use yoga as a way to minimize imbalances and begin a journey to greater
balance in the body. (Take Part II for an in-depth look at yoga for special conditions.) This
course caters to people who are newer to anatomy or who want a refresher in anatomy and
movement.
Part II of The Yoga Lab offers participants a closer look at the ways in which yoga techniques
can be applied to help people who are dealing with special conditions such as joint conditions
(degeneration, arthritis, tendinitis/tendinosis), conditions and illnesses that deal with chronic
pain (fibromyalgia, MS, cancer) certain injuries, and general musculoskeletal imbalances.
Program offers lecture, movement and hands-on techniques to create a practical and fun
learning experience. Anatomy knowledge highly recommended. Geared towards yoga
teachers, but anyone with a strong knowledge of yoga or movement encouraged to attend.
